Before our final decision, let’s look at some of the pros and cons of the two Sony receivers.

The Final Verdict

The Sony STR DN1070 and the Sony STR DN1060 are very similar, which made the decision a difficult one. We liked the Sony STR DN1070 because of the 4K HDR compatibility and it in many cases, it has a lower price tag. On the other hand, the Sony STR DN1060 was a little lighter, which helped if you want to leave it on a shelf. There were also more connection options.

We based our final verdict on the DSEE HX feature and the slightly better build quality. Some of the files we played did sound better with this unit and so it was worth the extra investment.
