The Final Verdict
A common complaint we have seen from many is that the glossy finish ends up with a rather orange peel look instead of smooth and this makes the tubs harder to clean. Both of these American Standard tubs come with specific cleaning instructions that have to be followed so that you don’t damage the surface.
We loved the design of the American Standard Cambridge and the American Standard Princeton. The materials were excellent and in particular the weight. You have the nice solid feel of a cast iron tub but without the additional kilos. It’s true that the water stayed hotter for longer with both tubs.
The overall winner was the American Standard Cambridge because of the depth. It’s hard to warrant spending the extra money for just a few more inches of water but it changes the whole experience. As the bathtub will likely last for many, many years, it is best to get the deeper tub so you can really enjoy it.
