The Display

On the front of the Jura J9 and the Jura Z9, there is a color TFT display. These liquid crystal displays are faster and brighter than LCD. There are 3 buttons on each side of the display. The display not only lets you choose your coffee settings, but it will also guide you through the process.

Adjustable Settings

You can choose the amount of water you use and the grind with the Jura J9 and the Jura Z9. The temperature of the water can be set at low, normal or X high. Depending on the coffee type, you can choose from extra-mild, mild, normal, strong, and extra-strong.

Fine Foam Technology

The fine foam technology that comes with the Jura J9 and the Jura Z9 allows for barista-quality, finely textured milk foam with a long-lasting consistency.

Cleaning Programs

For easy maintenance, the Jura J9 and the Jura Z9 have various cleaning cycles such as rinsing, cleaning and descaling. There are also settings to clean the milk frother. Again, the TFT display guides you through the cleaning programs.

Auto Switch Off

To save on energy, you can set the Jura J9 and the Jura Z9 to automatically switch off at different times from 15 minutes to 15 hours after the brewing cycle is complete.

When you consider the coffee types, strength, and temperature, it’s hard to imagine either of these coffee machines not making your perfect brew.

Jura Z9 review

Jura J9

There are 10 coffee types in total. You can make an espresso, coffee, latte macchiato, and a ristretto. You can also make 2 cups of espresso, coffee, and ristretto. Finally, you can get how water and a portion of milk.

Jura Z9

There are 11 settings in total. You can prepare the same as the Jura J9 with an extra option for a special coffee.

The Final Verdict

It was a difficult decision today. It’s true that with so many settings, you might have to experiment a little in the beginning to get the right flavor for you, but once you are there, the Jura J9 and the Jura Z9 make amazing coffees. The design of both is stunning and a personal choice but we did prefer the Jura J9 with the chrome finish, it also helps that it’s a little lighter.

You do have to take into consideration the price! While both are a decent investment, the Jura Z9 is more expensive—and rightly so. It is the better coffee maker, with a superior grinder, dual boiling system, and a larger capacity. If you can find this on offer, it’s an excellent buy and today’s overall winner.
